It was a hot summer’s evening when I settled down for another night alone on the beach. Alongside me were the few possessions I owned. I had no pillow so I would use a book. The blanket I used to cover me had seriously outlived its shelf life; having been used all summer without a wash, it was smelly, manky and uncomfortable and no matter how hard I shook it, I could not seem to get all the sand out that had matted its way in. Entertainment Gone Wrong?
Real Entertainment?
It will be the weekend here soon in England and many of the population will be watching Saturday night entertainment. This often comes in the form of what is called reality TV, where judges are adjudicating someone’s ability to dance/sing/cook etc. in front of an enthusiastic audience.
These kinds of shows have become very popular; in fact, the viewing numbers reach millions each week as people switch on to watch the programs and where, usually, drama unfolds.
But what exactly are these types of programs telling us? Continue reading “Entertainment Gone Wrong?”
In what Quality do we do Christmas?
There are many beliefs and traditions about the way that Christmas pans out each year and for most it is either one of the most stimulating and looked forward to celebrations, or it is one of the most dreaded times of the year – for many different reasons. The lead-up to Christmas, the actual day and the days that follow can leave us utterly exhausted, emotional, or stressed out!
We need to wonder if this is the quality we really want to be in for our Christmas period? Have we lost sight that some of the reasons for celebrating Christmas could also be to focus on winding down after our year, celebrating family and enjoying quality time connecting together?
Christmas time can mean feeling a lot of pressure & expectations: Continue reading “In what Quality do we do Christmas?”
Does Growing up Sheltered Protect you from the World?
A lot of parents wish to protect their children from the harshness of the world and from the very confronting and mean behaviour that children especially encounter in high school. However, does sheltering your child truly protect them from what is going on in the world?
In my own experience I would answer this question with a clear No. Continue reading “Does Growing up Sheltered Protect you from the World?”
Honesty
Just yesterday I discovered that the English name for a flower that in Germany is called “Mondviole” is honesty.
This name is so very fitting in many ways:
Like honesty this flower is never the first thing to be seen: it is rather small, the flowers are not big and showy, but it is always present by its wonderful smell. When looking at its flowers, the first thing that comes to my mind is simplicity, delicacy and strength combined with absolute clarity – and that is what honesty is about for me. On Serge Benhayon & Judith McIntyre: Does the Media have a Code of Ethics?
Over the last few years, time and time again, I have been witness to journalists attempting to shred Serge Benhayon’s reputation and his business Universal Medicine for the cheap pay-off off a sensational and ‘contentious’ story.

I have also had several very close friends who are associated with Universal Medicine, who have been completely dishonored by the press within numerous publications. They have been written about in ‘prestigious’ newspapers without even having been consulted about the veracity of the information; or their words in interviews have been extracted and totally twisted out of context to present the complete opposite of what was said.
Letters to the editors correcting the record have been dismissed unpublished as the journalists and newspapers have absolved themselves of any responsibility whatsoever. Continue reading “On Serge Benhayon & Judith McIntyre: Does the Media have a Code of Ethics?”
The Act of Love
One day at work I noticed my colleague handing a spoon to a gentleman he used to work with. The gentleman had just made the comment that he wanted to eat his yoghurt whilst grabbing it from another room, and from that my colleague handed him the spoon without the required “Can I have one please?”
Right now you’re probably like… “So, what’s the big deal?” And really, there is no big deal, it was just beautiful to register the act, and it got me thinking about love and the loving gestures we show one another. He was so natural with it, and it was clear to see that it is a normal part of how we can be with each other – caring for each other. Continue reading “The Act of Love”
We’re All Married to Everyone
Have you ever noticed how couples who have broken up often continue to behave and fight the way they did while married? Even for years or decades after separating or divorcing?
The same could be said for siblings, friends, teachers, students, workmates and business contacts who come into conflict and part company because of it. Or even public figures like politicians and celebrities who we choose to dislike for whatever reason. Sometimes the participants (even the unwitting ones) in these conflicted relationships who have moved apart may not even communicate directly at all, but the hostility, jealousy, frustration, judgment, etc., goes on and on within each person… like a festering splinter… Continue reading “We’re All Married to Everyone”
Trapped in Conditional Love
While we would never want to admit it, conditional love is very much the predominant expression of love in the world today. It is something we have accepted as close enough to love and therefore we have begun to accept, and even expect, this type of love time and time again.
So what is conditional love?
Conditional love has many layers and many forms, all of them designed to show the world just enough of our true self (our essence) so we don’t appear soulless, but not enough that other people might freak out, run away or point and say, ”You’re different,” “We don’t like you” etc.
Conditional love is the voice that says, “Don’t shine quite so bright, don’t say what you actually feel, don’t step on toes.” It is also the voice that says, “You’re better to wallow in your woes, because when you wallow, others leave you alone or give you attention and sympathy.”
Feeling Vulnerable – Feeling Me
The other morning I woke up feeling very vulnerable – I was tearful, head-achy and I felt fragile and sensitive to anything that was being said to me. The smallest comment would bring me to tears.
The night before I had attended an Esoteric Yoga session and the presenter did say that we may feel quite vulnerable in the first two weeks. I really did not believe her as I was feeling pretty good at the session, but here I am now – feeling vulnerable.
I was aware of something in my body telling me to “get rid of it,” to put this vulnerability aside and “get on with your day,” as I have done many times in the past: but today I decided to allow this vulnerability to be there and to deeply feel it. Continue reading “Feeling Vulnerable – Feeling Me”
