Give Universal Medicine a ‘fair go’

by Anna Karam, Goonellabah, Australia

On Friday 12 October I attended an event at Lennox Head Community Centre, NSW, Australia put on by Universal Medicine, an organisation which presents to free thinking individuals a way forward for humanity that is based on simply living a life that is more honest and loving towards oneself and all others.

This evening was then sabotaged by a National TV network media crew headed up by David Millikan (a so-called Uniting Church minister) who did anything but UNITE. Instead he accused the people attending (normal people just like myself) of being part of a cult that has the potential to harm others. Who are we harming, David? Ask yourself this truly. Many people were deeply affected

by Victoria Carter, Pottsville, Australia

The recent ‘ambush’ on a group of peaceful individuals attending an open public presentation last Friday night (12th October 2012) at Lennox Head Community Centre, was absolutely unacceptable;  David Millikan (a claimed man of God) displayed behaviour that was utterly inappropriate.

The orchestrated media circus he ‘set upon’ an unsuspecting group of people who had travelled to a public venue to hear Serge Benhayon speak – of and from a deep love and concern for humanity – was shocking and harmful. Many, many people were deeply affected, including children present. Everyone was ‘ambushed’ by not only his accusing tone, but the invasion of many TV film cameras, and more – all seeking “one big show” for a media hell-bent on sensationalism, with no accountability as to real facts and truth. To attempt to ‘incite’ a group of people who had freely chosen to pay to attend a presentation, because it resonated with our own deeply inquiring natures – as to the state of our world, our lives, our relationships, and how we may consider bringing more love to the way we live – is absolutely inexcusable.

This man’s supposed deeply studied ‘theology’ knows not of love in action.

The Doors are always Open

by Nicole Twist, Newrybar, Australia

I don’t know much about cults, but the little I do know is that there is an expectation of allegiance – surrender to the cult leader and to the doctrines of the cult and if you do not tow the line, there are what I would expect to be unpleasant consequences, punishment or even banishment.

Well, Universal Medicine is not a very good cult then, because the ‘doctrines’ presented are about developing love and truth in your own life, at your own pace and in your own way from listening to yourself and no one else. Continue reading “The Doors are always Open”

Hidden agenda in ambush on Universal Medicine

On Friday 12th October 2012 at an open presentation given by Serge Benhayon on Esoteric Medicine at Lennox Head Community Centre, we were ambushed by David Millikan, who claimed to be a Uniting Church minister and a self-proclaimed ‘Cult expert’. He said he was writing a book and simply wanted to ask the student body some questions about their relationship with Universal Medicine and Serge’s teachings.

Although initially, he seemed sincere in his intent to gain an understanding of the UniMed student body, as soon as David started talking, he called us a ‘cult’ and called Serge a ‘cult leader’. Then, came his judgment and his attacks towards our ability to hold our own beliefs. Continue reading “Hidden agenda in ambush on Universal Medicine”

Universal Medicine: Cult or True Religion

by Rachel Hall Brisbane, Australia

[Sect, Religion or Cult, this post looks at what each means and why Universal Medicine should or should not qualify.]

“…if you believe in it, it is a religion or perhaps ‘the’ religion; and if you do not care one way or another about it, it is a sect; but if you fear and hate it, it is a cult.” Leo Pfeffer.

A humorous quotation, but one that is uncomfortably close to reality in light of the many recent incorrect media allegations about Universal Medicine. Cults are claimed to be deceitful; they are claimed to be harmful to their members; they are claimed to be undermining values. Cults are claimed to be just about every bad thing in the book these days. It is often a label that people apply to a group they don’t like or understand; it is a derogatory and highly emotive term that carries numerous connotations. However, labels are ubiquitous in religious argument: cult, sect, apostate, pagan, heretic, antichrist… and so on. Call someone a name and you don’t have to refute their argument – it makes it easy to toss it aside as the workings of a potentially crazed mind rather than something that may be of value, truth and substance. Letter to the Premier of Queensland

This letter was sent to the Premier of Queensland by Rod Harvey on 13 September 2012.  We are including it here because it is an awesome letter and it inspires us to remember that we don’t have to sit back and take as ‘normal’ the constant mistreatment of women and indeed all people in the public domain or in politics or anywhere.

by Rod Harvey, Gold Coast, Australia

Dear Mr Newman

If the report in yesterday’s Courier Mail is correct, then the lack of respect you displayed in Parliament on Tuesday is of the utmost concern to Queenslanders.

As a Queensland resident and ratepayer, I was embarrassed to read about your comments to Jackie Trad, along with your failure to censure the Leader of the House, Ray Stevens.

Mr Stevens referred to Ms Trad as “Jihad Jackie”, which was an extraordinary and inflammatory insult, not only to Ms Trad, but also to the Muslim community. Yet you, as leader, were complicit by allowing the comment to ‘pass through to the keeper’, particularly as Mr Stevens later failed to apologise to Ms Trad outside Parliament.

It would have been so simple for him to ‘man up’ and admit that the comment was ill-conceived, yet he continued to dig a hole for himself by making excuses and blaming a prior media article for his comments, which was an extraordinary and empty justification.

And your comment “If she is going to be the Opposition Leader, she is going to have to harden up”, was also totally inappropriate. Then, like Mr Stevens, you made excuses and laid blame on the previous political campaign for your actions.

What is this…‘tit for tat’ politics?

However, what is more disturbing from this disrespectful exchange, is that you are indeed demeaning women (and I, as a ‘bloke’ with no political or religious affiliation whatsoever, feel it is important to bring this to your attention). Continue reading “Letter to the Premier of Queensland”

Shocked by false allegations

by Rosie Bason, Mullumbimby, NSW

I practise as a Herbalist and as a massage therapist. I also work as a supervisor in a busy cafe in Byron Bay. I often attend Universal Medicine talks by Serge Benhayon as I find his presentations on health and medicine very interesting. They have inspired me to make some healthy changes in my own life and that has also inspired others in my workplace and around me to make healthy choices for themselves.

On Friday night (12th October 2012) I attended the talk – held at Lennox Head Community Centre – with my father, and two friends from work. We were all looking forward to going out and listening to the presentation and connecting with other friends there. What we experienced instead was such a shock. Is this Australia?

by Dean Pirera, I.T. Consultant

In a travesty of human rights and freedom of speech last night (12th October 2012), journalist David Millikan and his filming team from a well-known television station verbally and psychologically assaulted a peaceful and unsuspecting community at their public meeting in Lennox Head, NSW.

At a regular presentation on health and wellbeing by Serge Benhayon at the Lennox Head Community Centre it became apparent that Mr Millikan was following through on a well hatched plan to deceive the presenter, hijack the lecture, plant a film crew in the audience and set about grilling the attendees (children included) ‘Spanish Inquisition’ style as to how they were part of a cult. No, not on my watch!

by Gayle Cue, Bangalow, NSW, Australia

There were children and teenagers, with their parents at a presentation by Serge Benhayon at Lennox Head Community Centre held on Friday night, 12th October 2012. An Australian television channel’s  employees attended under false pretences. It is an open event, so there was not a problem in them attending, but still they lied about why they were there. David Millikan, calling himself a minister of the Uniting Church, asked to take the stage to ask questions of the audience and because there is nothing to hide and Universal Medicine always welcomes genuine inquiry, he was given permission to do so. Within three minutes he turned into a blood thirsty sensationalist. Audience ‘Disappointed’ by Media Ambush

by Jenny McGee, Ocean Shores

It was with great frustration and disappointment that the opportunity for anyone in the general public who came to listen to a talk held at Lennox Head Community Centre on Esoteric Medicine, presented last night (12th October 2012) by Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine, was unable to hear the presentation, which was ambushed by a ‘tabloid journalism’ TV crew. In true tabloid journalism style, an “expert” (David Millikan) with a background in media was hired by an Australian television channel to get the “money” shot and filmed by several ‘sleepers’ in the audience. What saddens me the most, is that apart from another example of the corruption in the media (for this style of journalism is only about ratings through Jerry Springer tactics and sensationalism), is that the open door policy and the public’s right to access information regarding true wellbeing and health is hijacked.
